Marche is situated on a mountainous and hilly land, dominated by the Apennino Umbro-Marchigiano, it has a single flat area on the coast and in some small valleys. The coasts have long sandy beaches and are divided in two by the Conero promontory with impressive cliffs overlooking the sea.
Marche has a very developed industry, but in recent years the productions directly linked to the territory have evolved, such as the wine production which became very important in Ancona, in Conero, Matelica and Castelli di Jesi. Also, thanks to the coasts and the art towns, tourism is flourishing and since recent years fishing, that is traditionally very active, is combined with culinary tourism.
