CARNEVALE DI BRACCIANO
Between February and March you can take part to the Carnival of Bracciano. A parade of allegorical wagons and masks will bring the party on the streets of the town. There are also many shows, music and prizes for the most beautiful masks. The carnival lasts for a whole week and includes musical and theatrical performances, many carnival desserts and representations in costume even in the Bracciano Castle.
SAGRA DEL CARCIOFO ROMANESCO
In April, in Ladispoli, there’s the Festival of the Roman Artichoke. This festival has now passed the 60 editions and every year confirms its great success among the enthusiasts. There are many dished with artichokes, first courses, salads and omelettes. Along with the Roman artichoke,there will be also the productions of other regions of Italy. You can also get many chefs’ tips and many musical and entertainment shows for children and adults. The event lasts two weeks.
INFIORATA
Between May and June, in Cerveteri, there’s the Infiorata. It is a celebration in honor of the Virgin Mary for whom beautiful paintings are made using exclusively petals and flowers. These are created on the road, creating a colorful and cheerful journey. The subjects are often religious, but you can also find geometric and abstract compositions of great visual impact.
LAGHIDIVINI
In June, in Bracciano,there’s the Laghidivini. The splendid setting of Lake Bracciano hosts a festival dedicated to wine, especially the one produced on the shores of the Italian lakes. Among the many tastings there are also a lake cruise, many typical products such as ice cream, fried dishes, vegetables, cheeses and many other Slow Food products.
SAGRA DELLE FETTUCCINE AI FUNGHI PORCINI
On the first weekend of August, in Casaprota, in the district of Rieti, on the shores of Lake Turano, there’s the Festival of Fettuccine with porcini mushrooms. This delicious dish is prepared with the best mushrooms and egg fettuccine and is the protagonist of a festival that lasts a week, along with many other products such as sausage, skewers, pecorino cheese and good red wine. The mushrooms are harvested strictly in the Sabini Mountains, for the preparation of a fresh and scented dish.
SAGRA DELL’UVA E DEL VINO
On the fourth weekend of August, in Cerveteri, there’s Grape and Wine Festival. It was born in the 60s, this festival enhances the grapes and wines of the territory of Ceriti Hills. Cerveteri will open its best wine cellars for tastings, and will also organize the “gold fraschetta” competition dedicated to non-professional “home-made” wine producers, who will try to win the prize. In memory of the tradition and the festive atmosphere of the harvest, the town districts will have to demonstrate the traditional grape crush with their feet and a jury will choose the winner.
