The property is named after the valley bearing the same name, dotted with olive and carob trees and rich in many other types of crops. The area boasts an extraordinary cultural, scenic and natural heritage. You can visit Scicli, framed by three hills, of very ancient origins, rebuilt in Baroque style following the 1693 earthquake and named a UNESCO heritage site in 2002, going on a discovery of extraordinary noble palaces, such as Palazzo Bonelli, Palazzo Spadaro, Palazzo Beneventano, Palazzo Fava, large convents, beautiful churches, such as the Church of St. Bartholomew, located in one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods, the Church of Santa Maria La Nova, in the other historic area, the sites of the city’s main traditional festivals and folkloric events. You can walk through ancient narrow streets that climb the slopes of the rocky hills and enjoy the evocative views offered by this architectural marvel. Near Scicli, the baroque towns of the Val di Noto, such as Ragusa, Ibla, and Modica, are just 10 km away, while Noto is about 60 km away. Guests can venture as far as Syracuse and Marzamemi to enjoy the beautiful Vendicari Reserve, with its marvelous waters and paths through the coastal Mediterranean scrub. For those who love trekking, the Irminio River Reserve and the Mangiagesso Park are stunning nature trails. Scicli’s coastline stretches for more than 15 km and offers a wide variety of sandy beaches and rocky shores with crystal-clear waters, ideal both for those who prefer not very busy places, offering snorkeling and diving options, and for those who prefer equipped beaches. Scicli has a long tradition of religious and folk festivals, which enliven the town at various times of the year, not forgetting the markets. Summer is full of festivals and concerts, such as the Taranta Sicily Fest.

The architectural design of Agriturismo Fondoliva, located in Scicli, Sicily, preserves some of its original characteristics when it comes to materials use, while furnishings have a more modern style, in the spirit of sustainability. Owners pay close attention to recycling, reuse and farm-to-table products. Guests can enjoy several areas both outdoors and indoors, designed for relaxation or remote work, a reading area full of volumes about the area, and a space for the sale of locally made products. The property offers two studio apartments, Verdese and Moresca, for two people, equipped with all modern comforts, with a fully equipped kitchen area, dining area, bathroom with shower and lofted sleeping area. There is a large veranda with barbecue, tables and chairs and a beautiful view of the olive grove. The Bouganville Dependance, located a few kilometers from the farmhouse in the countryside between Scicli and Donnalucata, consists of a large enclosed veranda overlooking the sea where the kitchen and living room are located, a double bedroom, a loft bedroom, and two bathrooms.

Agriturismo Fondoliva‘s owners have already commenced the process for Organic certification according to their founding principles concerning well-being, sustainability, regeneration and contact with nature. Guests can enjoy organic produce from the garden and a selection of products for sale: olive oil, herbs, flavored salts, preserves, liqueurs, almonds, legumes, carob products, etc. On request guests can enjoy a hot breakfast, with coffee, cappuccino or tea, cold, with granita with brioche, and savory, a light lunch, snack or aperitif. The owners arrange visits to the farm, olive harvest in October, caper harvest in May and June, almond and carob harvest in August, traditional Hyblean cooking classes, and visits to local wineries. They will be happy to give you suggestions on nature and cultural routes both on foot and by bicycle and recommend authentic experiences to discover the cultural, artisan and food and wine heritage of the area.
